How do I Upload Files to GCconnex

 

In GCconnex, you can upload different types of content including photos, documents, audio files, videos, PDFs and more. This can be done within a group or made available GCconnex-wide.

 

  


To ensure a smooth upload of your files to GCconnex, it is recommended that you do not exceed 10 uploads at a time.
 

 

Where to find your files in GCconnex

 

Personal files

 

Start on the home page of GCconnex. Click on your profile icon that is located on the top right corner of the page. This will reveal a drop-down menu. Choose My Profile

 

 

Click on the Files tab and you will find files that you have shared on GCconnex. 

 

 

Where to find files uploaded in a Group

 

Go to your Group's main page. 

 

Click on Files.

 

 

Uploading a file

 

Go to your GCconnex profile. 

Select the Files tab.

Click on the Upload a file button.

 

 

 

Select between:

  • Single file to upload one file. 
  • Multi file to upload several files at once.
  • Zip file to upload a zipped file.

 

 

 

 

Click Choose File to locate the file. Find the file from your computer or shared drive, but not a shared repository, such as GCDocs. 

Enter the Title.

Enter the Description of the file.

Select a parent folder or use the default. This is where the file will be found.

Set Access.

Click Tag and Create. 

 

A pop-up window will appear. 

You may add the file to a corresponding community.

Set tags. These are optional but highly encouraged as tags can add context to your post. (For example, if your post has to do with OneGC you can tag #gcconnex #ONEGC). 

 

Click Publish to upload your file to GCconnex. 

 

 

 

 

Uploading Files in a Group

 

Start on the main page of the group that you wish to post files in. 

Click on the Files tab. 

 

 

Click on the Upload a file button.

 

 

 Select between:

  • Single file to upload one file. 
  • Multi file to upload several files at once.
  • Zip file to upload a zipped file.

 

Click Choose File to locate the file.

Enter the Title.

Enter the Description of the file.

Select a parent folder or use the default. This is where the file will be found.

Access: the file access settings

    • Only Me
    • Only group members
    • All public servants 

 

Click Tag and Create

 

 

A pop-up window will appear. 

Select a corresponding community that your file belongs to (this is optional). 

Enter Tags. These are optional but highly encouraged as tags can add context to your post. (For example, if your post has to do with OneGC you can tag #gcconnex #ONEGC). 

 

Click Publish to share your file. Now your file has been uploaded in the folder specified, group members (and others, depending on your access settings) may now view these files.

 

 

Uploading a video

 

Uploading a video file on GCconnex uses the exact same steps as uploading a regular file, however it is important to note that the size of the video to be uploaded should not exceed 1GB. While GCconnex does not have video player functionality, users can upload video file types.

 

Accepted file formats: txt, jpg, jpeg, png, bmp, gif, pdf, doc, docx, xls, xlsx, ppt, pptx, odt, ods, odp, accdb, mdb, m4a, mp4, grd, map, rar, gdb, dwg, zip, mp3, ppsx, mid, mov, xlsm, ai, xd, svg, indd, vsd, vsdx, mpp, mppx, potx, dotx, .dotx
